Sunday on In Good Hands

Problem

Traditional lawn care is an antiquated brute force approach that lays down 90,000,000 pounds of pesticides each year. It makes soil and grass dependent on chemical inputs. Good for their business. Bad for your lawn.

Solution

Sunday uses a soil sample, photos, and location data to customize what each lawn needs and how to help it grow with an optimized mixture of chemical-free nutrients, such as seaweed, molasses, and food waste. The year-long subscription, which sends four boxes to a customer each year, tailors the ingredients, amount, and date of delivery to maximize impact.

Episode Brief

Coulter Lewis, Sunday’s Co-Founder and CEO, joins Peter on this week’s episode to discuss:

  • The Sunday eureka moment and raising over $9M

  • Traditional lawn care’s toxic “brute force” system

  • Using soil, photos, and location data to customize kits

  • The RoundUp fiasco

  • How Sunday fits the broader climate solution narrative

  • Lightning Round:

    • If you could work with one of the Sharks, who it would be and why?

    • As someone who’s raised millions in seed rd, what’s your best fundraising advice to founders raising their first capital?

    • If you weren’t working on Sunday, what would it be and why?

    • What’s the most impactful piece of advice you’ve received?
