This week I learned: Thomas Edison invented (mainstreamed) the word "hello." It existed, but was pronounced differently and used as an expression of surprise. When he was working on the phone, they needed a loud greeting for operators. He thought the word “hello” was easy to yell, so everyone using phones adopted it. Rest is history!
Idea of the week: There's a saying that goes something like: first-time founders focus on product, second-time founders focus on distribution. Can't sell product if you can't reach customers! Hence the idea: the Airbnb Distributor. Airbnb hosts buy a bunch of things to improve the guest experience - games, towels, beach chairs etc. If [co] aggregated hosts into one buying group, brands would JUMP at the opportunity to get their product into 1000s of homes. Hosts would get discounted items (= more, cheaper amenities), guests have better experiences and leave good reviews. Win-win-win :)
